手板模型制作讓產品更加直觀

產品生產都是大批量的，如果盲目的生產存在著不小的風險，在產品設計的過程中，可視化是產品設計表達的重要環節，是設計討論的基石。快速有效地建立產品的模型，可以在相同的時間獲得更高的設計效率。在設計創意階段，使用多的往往是基于圖紙的2D表現，然而到了中后期，設計的表現將更加具體，應該采用更為具體直觀的手板模型作為討論的對象。與平面的2D表現相比，手板模型有著無法替代的優勢。
板模型因為其可視性和可觸摸性，能夠很好的將設計師的創意、理念等都直觀的以實物形式反應出來，從而良好的避免了畫出來而做不出來或者做出來不好看等情況的發生。因此，手板模型往往是新產品在外形推敲的過程中，在成品前的一步。
一般來講，模具的制作費用都比較高，有的模具一個能夠達到數十萬元甚至上百萬。并且一旦在制作出來后發現有不理想的地方，又須要重新再做，這個損失是可以遇見的。所以，手板模型就很好的避免了模具的這項缺點，在市場中也的到越來越多的重視。
手板模型可以使產品的細節更加明確，產品的視覺感受更加直觀，設計團隊中每個人都能夠察看這些設計，在協調整個團隊的工作方面優勢明顯。例如在設計鼠標造型時，對多種造型方案均做出模型用于設計討論，相比較于2維平面圖，1:1制作的手板模型更為直觀，設計人員可以通過直接的握持感受鼠標的使用效果，使鼠標造型的討論建立在更加真實的基礎上，這是平面圖紙所無法替代的。
